To all my friends. These health tips are an integration of ideas I have learned from many great people and cultures from all over the globe. The concept is based on simple and common sense living. Looking to the earth and inside ourselves to heal, and better our short stay here.
I would like to thank all the great masters for their dedication, hard work and openness to share this wisdom.
1. No smoking, drinking, or drugs. An occasional glass of wine, beer, or a cigar over the holidays is fine, just don't turn it into a weekly or monthly thing.
2. Exercise and sweat Daily. Walking, running, martial arts, dancing, sex, anything that gets you moving. You have to get the heart pumping, the lungs working, and the circulation flowing. Weight lifting or calesthenics for muscle development and stretching. Yoga, Tai-chi, dance stretches, whatever, just do it.
3. Proper intake. (Live foods). Mostly raw fruits and vegetables. Foods high in nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Spirulina blue-green algae, barley, alfalfa, wheat grasses, seaweed, ect. Juicing is also great. Lots of garlic, cayenne pepper, beta carotene, and plenty of water. Free range poultry and fish. An occasional steak or beef is ok. Stay away from sugar and processed foods, but have that piece of cheesecake during the holidays. No need to go overboard and drive you, and everyone around you crazy.
4. Proper elimination. (Cleansing). Detoxify your body every season, or at least twice a year with the right balance of herbs. Keep your home free from all toxins and chemicals.
5. Daily quiet time. Take a half-hour out of your daily routine and just be by yourself. Find a quiet place and sit still. Meditate, pray, listen to very soft music, and if possible go to the woods, the ocean, the mountains, or wherever you can be surrounded by nature and chill for a while.
6. Hydro-therapy. Let the blood circulate through your skin by taking hot and cold showers. Twenty seconds as hot as you can take it, then twenty seconds as cold as you can take it. Repeat the process 6 to eight times during the session.
7. Daily laughter. Laughing is like a miracle drug. Don't take things so seriously. Have fun. It won't last forever.
8. Proper sleep. Many people don't get enough rest, their battery runs down, and they don't have the energy to do any of the steps I have just mentioned. Other people get way to much sleep and they can't get that engine to run smoothly. Find what works best for you. Some need eight hours of sleep per night, others only six hours per night. The key to proper rest is consistency.
9. Prioritizing. There are only a few things that really matter; your health, your family, and your work, and work is questionable at times. We are all busy running around trying to do this and trying to please everyone, and sometimes we forget why we are doing it all. That's why we need all the steps. So we can have clear thinking and put our priorities in their proper place.
10. Forgiveness. We carry around an awful lot of baggage. Grudges and negative thoughts cling to our soul for years and years. We are like prisoners to ourselves, never getting away from it. We need to let go. Forgive not only the other guy, but yourself as well. Start fresh everyday like it was your last day on earth.
THAT'S IT!
These 10 tips are just a guideline. Find a balance that works for you. So many people get on some health kick and they set themselves up for failure. Most set un-realistic goals and make it so hard to do. Moderation is the key to success. Do it your way and laugh all the way to great health.
Ladies and Gentlemen take my advice, pull down your pants and slide on the ice! Have a great ride. Joe Maffei.
